Absence

I apologise for the huge lack of posting lately.  There has been a shift in the household.  My husband got a job out-of-town that we are hoping will become permanent so we are in limbo now wondering if we should sell, if we should buy a house there, if, if, if…

I’m also very busy trying to get costumes finished for the Kitchener Waterloo Children’s Drama Workshop’s production of Aladdin Jr. and I hope to have some photos of the costumes to share with you.  It’s been a blast and I wish I could continue as the costume manager (they are doing peter pan in the spring!) but it’s not in the cards for me at the moment.  Thankfully they have a good stash of costumes so I created almost all the costumes by repurposing costumes they already had.  It’s been an interesting adventure in sewing. 🙂 If you are in the Kitchener area, they are presenting at the Registry theatre on Frederick street, you should get a ticket and see it! Call the number below, some of the dates are sold out already.

So, in about a week, I will be temporarily moving so the family will be together as we navigate through this confusing time.  I hope to update here during that time as I would hate to lose my readers!  I do have some projects in the works and I will do my best to share them.

Survey Closed

Thanks to  everyone who did the survey.  I’ll be posting the winner later today!

Take a Survey, get entered to win a custom kids bowling shirt!

In case you missed my previous post about this, I’m gathering some information so I can better understand what people may be looking for when they go shopping for clothing for their kids.

I’ve created a very short survey and would appreciate your input!

Click Here to do the Survey!

I’ll be keeping it open until midnight, October 31.  On November 1st I’ll draw a name from those that completed the survey (so be sure to enter your email address at the end!) and that person will receive a custom kids bowling shirt for their favourite little Punk’n.

In the meantime, if you are in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, be sure to head down to Rare Funk at 8 Duke Street (corner of Duke and Queen in downtown Kitchener).  Most of my Punkn’s stuff is 50% off until Christmas, or until it’s gone.  This is a great time to pick up something unique for Christmas presents, and they have lots of other stuff too so if you aren’t in the market for baby clothes, I’m sure you can find something to suit your fancy! 😀

Rockabilly baby- Boy stuff!! Tute to follow shortly

You will have to forgive me for my absence.  In addition to being on vacation I’ve been working on helping organize a fundraiser for a project I’ve been part of for the past 2+ years.

Our fundraiser is a burlesque show so as well as recruiting performers and getting ready for the big day, we’ve had some wonderful press and it’s been a whirlwind of interviews and photos etc.  I’ll be glad when it’s over and I’m sure that all our hard work will pay off.  You can see more about this project and the fundraiser on our myspace page.  www.myspace.com/londonpinups (please leave any comments on the myspace page. thanks! )

I really wanted to do a tutorial related to the burlesque theme since it’s what has been on my mind but as time is slipping away, that will have to wait for another day (valentines day perhaps?)  And now that I only have a couple of days left before the big day on Saturday, a tutorial is just out of the question.  So I’m giving you a bit of  a teaser with the promise of a tutorial very soon.

We have been lucky enough to secure a very talented rockabilly band for the fundraiser.  Burnin’ Ethyl out of Burlington ON will be joining us Saturday night.  I  personally love the rockabilly look, and especially on guys.  And one thing I always fall short on is making cool clothes for my boy.  So in the spirit of rockabilly and cool clothes for boys, I created a bowling shirt just for the little man.

If you look really closely at the stripe, collar and pocket, those are teeny tiny skulls.  😀 I love it and so does he which makes me even happier.
